Increased Traction
Wide rims allow your tire’s bead to expand horizontally which puts more of your tread pattern on the ground where it counts.

All our rims (except our DH layup rim) have an asymmetric profile with a 3mm displacement of the nipple bed so that spoke length is equalized between the drive and non-drive side. More equal spoke length translates into increased spoke tension and to a stronger, stiffer wheel.
When running tubeless, the pressures on your sidewall can dislodge your tire bead causing your tire to “burp” our air. Wide rims change the angle of your sidewall and reduce the amount of sidewall deflection per unit of force – the result is a more secure bead and less burping.
Carbon has a better strength to weight ratio than aluminum but that is not all. The increased width of the rim translates into an effectively wider tire because the same tire will perform bigger when seated to a wide rim. Thus you can use a smaller tire to get the same amount of traction and cushion and save rotational weight in the process.
